Klettwitz/Brandenburg: YACO Racing Team will be well prepared when the engines roar up again next weekend (September 10-12) in the German GT Championship at Lausitzring. A few days ago, the team prepared the next steps during a practice rollout in the Lausitz. Deputy team director Peter Reicher reports: „The summer break was long enough. We are all looking forward to the next challenges. But even as a small private team, we did not want to race in the ADAC GT Masters unprepared. We spent two testing days to prepare for the upcoming weekend.“

YACO Racing scored an excellent eleventh position at the season-opening race in Oschersleben and barely missed out on a P14 finish at their home race at the Red Bull Ring. Hopes and optimism were high going into summer break after an eleventh position in Zandvoort in the Netherlands. One of the two drivers, Simon Reicher, describes the positive developments as follows: „At first glance, the results are great. Nonetheless, the previous races have shown us that we must take big steps forward as a team. We need to make better use of and benefit from our competitors’ mistakes. That’s where we’ve missed out on quite a few points. Our prep-days were all about team building, but also about sorting out possible sources of issues before a race weekend.“

The second driver in the team is Norbert Siedler. He is a fast, experienced GT3 driver. He describes his perspective as follows: „The GT Masters racing field offers an incredible level of competition, as it does every year. We see all the time how a few tenths of a second can make a big difference. For us as a private team, it’s almost impossible to snatch away the last tenths of a second from the factory teams. The fact that we’ve managed to continuously reduce the gap this season, has only been possible thanks to the great performance of everyone involved. At this point, I must also admit that my performance lead over Simon is basically non-existent. Simon has developed incredibly quickly and well. We’re both having a lot of fun.“

“The goal is to steal places from the „big boys“ of the GT Masters. We are heading well prepared into the second half of the season. Spectators can also follow the races live at the Lausitzring – we finally can welcome fans in the pit lane again,“ says Peter Reicher. He adds: „Without fans at the track, motorsports just doesn’t feel right.“

For the first time since 2019, spectators will be allowed in the paddock on Saturday and Sunday, in line with Germany’s “3G Rules” (vaccinated, recovered, tested). Highlights will include „Meet the Driver“, the „Pitwalk“, and the „Open Pitlane“. All races will also be broadcast live and in full length by NITRO. More information and a time schedule of the upcoming racing weekend can be found on the ADAC Motorsport website.
