This weekend (August 30 to September 1), Simon Reicher will be part of a long-distance race again – more precisely, the 24-hour race of Creventic in Barcelona. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is new territory for the Austrian. „I’m really looking forward to Barcelona and driving a new circuit again. I have already watched a lot of onboard videos. That way I get a feeling of how the line and the gas and braking points etc. are. Of course, I did many workouts again, so I’m well prepared for the 24 hours“, the Kirchberger reveals full of anticipation. He will again start for team Car Collection.
What are the expectations of the 19-year-old, after his 24-hour race in Dubai at the beginning of January and the 12-hour race in Mugello in mid-March? „I have mixed expectations. On the one hand, I go into the race with zero expectations, because it is a new race track where I can gain miles and new experiences, and then I will see what happens. On the other hand, I drive there with three excellent gentlemen. If everything goes right, we can land on the podium in the amateur ranking. Depending on how well we make it through the race, even a podium place in the overall standings is possible“, Simon believes. He says that he cannot wait to see the performances of this teammates.
One thing is especially important for Simon in Barcelona: „My biggest goal this time is that we’re not going to cause an accident. Unfortunately, so far, one of my other teammates has always been knocked out during the other endurance races, so I have never been able to finish a long-distance race. We will definitely do our best.“ Personally, he wants to set an exclamation mark again: „I hope I can deliver the same performance there, that I have recently shown with my YACO Racing Team. Furthermore, I want to make as few mistakes as possible and drive top times.“
Just like in Dubai and Mugello, Simon feels in good hands with his team Car Collection: „I am delighted to be driving for Car Collection again. The team is very competent on the long-distance and knows exactly what it is doing – otherwise, it would not have won the race in Dubai.“
