Top athletes have got their secondary school qualifications all sewn up
The Austrian touring car driver Simon Reicher (19) is excited that he passed his Higher School Certificate. Directly after his last exam, Hard-Enduro-driver Michael Walkner (21) congratulated him in person at the Zukunfts-Campus in Ebenau close to Salzburg. Walkner is currently on position 18 in the world ranking and therefore the second-best Austrian. Two years ago, he had finished school there highly successfully. “We are fertile ground for prospective top athletes who do not wanna miss out on an AHS-education with a professional qualification despite their athletic commitment. That way they secure their future after their sports careers“, reveals principal Mag. Heinz Edenhofner who is really proud about the success of these two young men at school and on the race track.
Reicher and Walkner rev up
Simon Reicher now does not only have his A level certificate but also a final apprenticeship examination in mechatronics all sewn up. Like Walkner, he from now on wants to fully focus on this professional race career. In the mid of June, the Kirchberger (OÖ) will be part of the DMW Championship at Nürnbergring – fighting on the old Grand-Prix-racetrack. Since shortly he gets professionally managed by the successful Grödiger Motorsport-Consultant Paul Straßl. The Graißauer Michael Walkner recently showed his talent with a spectacular 26th place at the Erzbergrodeo in a field with 500 drivers. His next race will be on June 21 at the Hixpania Hard Enduro-Challenge in Spain where he is going to rev up.

Der 24-jährige Simon Reicher ist im Motorsport kein Unbekannter. Seine Karriere begann im Alter von 8 Jahren. Klassisch – auf der Kartbahn. „Ich bin froh im Kartsport, der klassischen Schule des Motorsports, aufgewachsen zu sein.“ Und das mit Erfolg. 2014 gewann das österreichische Motorsport Talent die 43. Trofeo delle Industrie im italienischen Lonato. Nach seiner aktiven Zeit im Kartsport wechselte der Österreicher 2016 in den Automobil Rennsport. Dort gab er 2016 und 2017 sein Debüt mit dem niederländischen Certainty Racing Team in dem Renault Clio Cup Central Europe und in der TCR Germany. 2018 präsentierte sich er mit dem renommierten YACO Racing Team im Cockpit eines Audi RS 3 LMS bei den ADAC TCR Germany. |
