Last weekend the young Austrian Simon Reicher started as a guest starter at the DMV-GTC-race at Red Bull Ring. Together with his old team YACO Racing he wanted to live up to an earlier success. “It was incredible. Pure motorsports and a fantastic experience. I am satisfied“, the 19-year-old fancied.

The third heat of Dunlop 60 and DMV-GTC series took place at Red Bull Ring. “It was a lot of fun to participate in that series. You can compete with big names in the scene like Kenneth Heyer and Uwe Alzen – without automatically risking your car. Intense fights for positions without ill-advised actions – that’s simply amazing. When I think about the second race on Sunday I can hardly imagine that all the cars in the ADAC GT Masters would have made it to the second round“, the youngster reported.

On Friday, Simon Reicher already started quite successfully into the weekend – only a few kilometers away from his grandparent’s house. “Our main goal was to see if the car does what we set it up to do. And to see whether that also results in fast lap times. The team and I were really excited about the fact that we landed on position three in the first free practice and on position two in the qualifying. Because that meant that we were able to start from the first starting row with a GT3-car for the first time ever“, Simon explained happily.

The absolute highlight for the Kirchberger was a spot on the podium. “The second place was awesome. Sadly, we didn’t win though. We didn’t have the easiest conditions: We drove with a smaller air duct according to DMV regulations. We also had 20 kilograms added weight in our car because of our guest start. Plus, the characteristics of the race course weren’t exactly ideal for our Audi R8 LMS. Nevertheless, I wanted to challenge my competitors and fought hard for a good position“, the sympathetic Austrian analyzed the situation.

What is the big difference between the Dunlop tires that they used there and the Pirelli Pneus that are used in ADAC GT Masters? “I don’t think that is an important question. You have to be fast with all tires. The name shouldn’t matter. They all have their specialties. Some last longer, some have a bigger achievement-peak.  What is important for the ADAC GT Masters race in three weeks at Red Bull Ring is that we already know how it has to work“, the 19-year-old explained and added: “The cooperation with my old YACO-team was simply amazing. The whole weekend was totally cool and on point.“

After this highly successful weekend, there’s only one question left: Is the young Austrian interested in fighting for the DMV championship? “First of all, we have planned another race in the mid of June at Nürburgring. I heard that we drive the old Grand-Prix-routing there – so I am on fire already. Let’s see what happens afterward“, Simon said euphorically.
